Take Control of Your Energy Future with Energy Manager

Are you looking to truly unlock the full potential of your solar panels and home battery system?

At Energy Manager, we're passionate about empowering Australian households to take control of their energy consumption, maximise their return on investment, and contribute to a smarter, more efficient energy grid.

Our innovative client-server system is designed to intelligently manage your solar-generated electricity and battery storage. We go beyond simple energy storage; Energy Manager actively works to save you money and even earn you income. By integrating with real-time weather predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and Solcast solar forecasts, our system makes smart decisions about when to store your precious solar power for later use, when to draw from the grid at the cheapest rates, and crucially, when to export your stored energy back to the grid during peak price spikes.

The Spark Behind Energy Manager

We noticed a growing trend: more and more Australians are investing in solar and battery storage, which is fantastic. However, many are missing out on significant financial benefits because they aren't equipped to navigate the complexities of trading electricity on the wholesale market through innovative retailers like Amber Electric or LocalVolts.

Through conversations and observations on social media, it became clear that while the desire to optimise these systems is strong, the technical know-how often presents a barrier. That's where Energy Manager comes in. We've dedicated ourselves to automating this complex process as much as we can, making sophisticated energy trading accessible to everyday people. Our goal is to simplify the journey so you can focus on the benefits, not the backend.

How It Works: Smart, Seamless, Secure

Energy Manager cleverly integrates with your existing smart home ecosystem. Our system leverages the power and flexibility of Home Assistant, a popular open-source home automation platform.

Here's a glimpse under the hood:

  • A number of sensors, integrations and add-ons operate on your local Home Assistant instance.
  • Your Home Assistant instance securely communicates via an API with our highly available Energy Manager servers.
  • Our servers house the "brains" of the operation – constantly analysing your unique market data, weather forecasts, and your energy usage patterns to make optimal decisions.
  • Instructions are then sent back to your Home Assistant, which uses Modbus to communicate directly with your Sungrow, Sigenergy, AlphaESS or Fronius inverter (more brands to come soon) to perform the necessary actions – whether that's charging your battery, exporting to the grid, or drawing power when it's most economical.

There’s a small amount of setup required to connect your system, but we provide straightforward, step-by-step instructions that most users find easy to follow.

Our Focus: The Australian East Coast Energy Market

Energy Manager is specifically tailored for Australian consumers connected to the National Electricity Market (NEM) on the Eastern seaboard (Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania). This is where the major energy markets dynamically trade, allowing for the optimisation strategies our system employs. (Please note: Energy Manager is not currently suitable for Western Australia or the Northern Territory due to their separate electricity grids).

Our Vision: Empowering You

Our vision is simple: to empower Australian households to become active participants in the energy market. We want to demystify energy trading and provide you with the tools to make your solar and battery investment work harder for you. With Energy Manager, you can reduce your energy bills, maximise your export earnings, and contribute to a more stable and sustainable energy future for all.

Join us on the journey to smarter energy management. Welcome to Energy Manager.
